Poultry at Two Oaks Farm
Our Chickens
Currently we have a small flock of Barred Plymouth Rock chickens. We love the fresh eggs, of course, but I would keep chickens even if they didn't lay eggs - they truly do provide "cheep therapy"! These girls delight constantly with their antics. They make me smile every day, and they provide me with an opportunity to laugh out loud at least once a week!
Free-Range, Pasture Fed Chickens
Our chickens range freely over 6 acres of pasture, hence the term "Free-Range Pasture Fed Chickens". They spend their days foraging for all the seeds, bugs and so forth that they can find, and their nights in the barn protected from predators. Their diet is supplemented by commercial feed for laying hens. The variety that this kind of diet provides enhances the flavor of their eggs; studies indicate there may be nutritional benefits as well. |
